jsswhtny Avant folk from noise folks, what’s not to love? This record is fantastic. Thoroughly rooted in tradition but unafraid to embrace darker/noisier elements of sound and abstraction in composition. Can’t wait for more. Favorite track: Death Song.

about

Born in the spring of 2022, Aune Mire (pronounced ow-n my-er) began as the avant-folk alter ego of Minneapolis noise artist Anthony Amelang. After releasing a self-titled debut that autumn, Aune Mire gained a new member: string wizard and fellow noise traveler Miles McClain (Shit God, Watershed Group, Casini). Lacrimae Or Eleven Tears is the duo's first offering. Conceived in the depths of a freezing Minnesota winter, Lacrimae draws upon a rich vein of musical influences, including English and Scottish folk, chamber music, ritual ambient, and more. Here, the duo, supported by guest musicians Tanner Anderson (Obsequiae, Burning) and Alana Erickson, weave a heady blend of the traditional and the avant-garde, Eastern and Western, Christian and pagan. The distinct voices of Amelang and McClain echo across a vast soundscape, accompanied by a unique variety of instruments and bombastic percussion. Drink deep of these Eleven Tears and find solace in sorrow.
